Paintless dent repair cost in San Diego is typically $75 to $350 for a single door ding. Larger or multiple dents typically run $300 to $900. Conventional bumper or scratch work is quoted after photos or an in-person look. Your installer confirms the written price.

Those ranges are the approved figures on this site. They are not a calculator, and they are not a promise for your door. The technician has to see the dent.

Paint Shield SD matches you with vetted, insured local installers. We do not perform the repair. Getting matched costs nothing.

Small door ding on a silver car door under inspection lighting in San Diego

What you are paying for

Paintless dent repair works the metal back from behind the panel. Factory paint stays on the car. Nothing is filled, sanded, or resprayed when the method fits.

You are paying for access, time, and the condition of that specific dent. A shallow ding on a door skin is a different job than a crease across a body line on a truck bed. The same size mark on an aluminum panel can also change the labor. See paintless dent repair on aluminum if that is your vehicle.

If you still need the candidacy test (paint intact, panel reachable), that lives on is my dent a paintless dent repair candidate. This page stays on cost.

What moves a ding from the low end to the high end

Count and size. One isolated door ding is the $75 to $350 band. Several dents on one panel, or a larger depression, sit in the $300 to $900 band. A hail-style field of dents is its own conversation. See hail dent repair in San Diego.

Paint. If a fingernail catches on cracked or chipped paint, paintless repair is the wrong tool. That job moves to conventional repair and refinishing, which is quoted separately. Dents with chipped paint covers that fork.

Access. Door skins are often workable. Areas backed by braces, double walls, or factory sealant may need trim pulled, or they may not be reachable at all. Labor changes when the technician has to remove a tail light or a liner to get behind the mark.

Body line and stretch. A crease on a character line is slower than a round ding in the middle of a panel. Stretched metal will not tap back to flat. Forcing it can leave a high spot that looks worse than the original dent.

Where you park is not the price. A Poway driveway and a Downtown garage do not have different published rates on this site. The dent does.

Photos that actually help the first quote

Send one wide shot of the whole panel and several close shots in daylight. Include a second angle with a phone light raked across the mark. A credit card or finger in the frame gives scale without pretending to be a measurement the technician will use as a quote.

Say when it happened if you know: parking-lot door, shopping cart, hail, or unknown overnight. Timing does not set the price. It tells the pro whether to look for related marks on the same panel.

Do not press the dent out with a plunger or a kit before the visit. A DIY dent kit can stretch the metal or crack the paint and take the job out of the paintless range.

Insurance and “how much per dent” pages

Many body repair pros work with insurance claims. Ask your pro. This site does not guarantee coverage, acceptance, or a deductible outcome.

Online cost estimators and per-dent calculators are another shop’s marketing. They are not this site’s quote. If a page asks you to count dents and then prints a number, treat it as a lead form.

Start with the paintless dent repair service if you want a match. Bring the same photos.

Getting matched costs nothing. Call (760) 400-6557 or request a quote. The technician confirms the written price after looking at the vehicle.
